Writing All Kinds of Things

We have been writing about lots of different things in our classroom. We have been writing stories about our best friend. We published them into a digital book. We are making a story about our families. We have also done some whale research. We found pictures of whales on the internet. We made pic collages with the facts and pictures.

We celebrated Dot Day this week. We made talking dots. We made a coloring dot come to life. We drew digital dots. We made fact families with colored dots.

Our 2 butterflies hatched this week. We named them Daisy and Marana. We set them free so they could fly away to Mexico.

Learning about Monarchs Butterflies and Caterpillars

We have been studying Monarch Butterflies in class and are learning a lot about them. Here are some facts from the students in our classroom... When they are caterpillars they are white, black, and yellow. Whenever the larva hatches it eats its egg. To make itself poisonous it eats milkweed. It flies to Mexico or California in the winter. They lay their eggs on milkweed. The Monarch caterpillars shed their skin 5 timers. Their poop is called frass.
