Second Week of School

Another busy week in Second Grade. This week we built our stamina with Word Work and Working with Writing.  We had our first attempt at writing on our Kidblog but just didn't have enough time to get finished.  We will try to finish our posts next week.  In reading we talked a lot about characters and setting and added this to our FACE of a reader wall.  We talked about tools that scientist used and opened up our new tools to go with our new science series.  We have thermometers, meter sticks, timers, magnifying glasses and beakers.  We got to try out the magnifying glasses to look at some things up close in class.

Page will be helping us from the high school.  She comes every day around 2:10 and stays until the end of the day.  Be sure to check back next week to see what we have been working on in class.

First Week of School

Our first week of Second Grade was awesome. We did lots of getting to know each other activities. We made a video, which I hope to have on our website soon. We built stamina for Daily 5, did some fun science experiments with color, drew the Statue of Liberty's feet which are 25 feet long, talked about some different states during our math lessons and played some fun learning games on the ipods. We have been learning about our classroom rules and have been doing a pretty great job settling into Second Grade. I am excited about what a great class we have this year and look forward to lots of exciting days ahead.

Let's have smurferific Second Grade Year

Pinterest and Thinglink

I have found 2 new fun websites this summer.  Pinterest  is a very fun and addictive website where you can add lots of photo ideas to a bulletin board. Here is my link to classroom ideas http://pinterest.com/amsgoodwin/classroom-ideas/  I also love Thinglink.  You can add links to your photos to show people where your ideas came from or link to where you bought things in your photo. These are 2 photos from my classroom slideshow post using Thinglink to tell you more about them.
